Straight To Video Russian Roulette

Kelley watched Vampires the Turning.

Kelley: There was no way this movie could be good.

Ugly Americans (“Casper Van Dien guy” and “half-cute girl”) vacationing abroad in Thailand use very poor judgment, encounter questionable martial arts, and vampires. Hilarious stupidity, kung fu, neck biting, red gels ensue. It was horrible. The movie itself is random crap. Kelley does not recommend this film. ?There is not a single reason to watch this. Kelley seems to be especially disgusted and offended by this film, as if it was created as a personal affront to him.

Quiz Question: Matt asks: In the movie The Goonies, what was the name of the explorer hot on the trail of the treasure?

Freddy answers Chester Copperpot.

Amy loses and has to watch Skin Crawl.

Main Topic

Matt saw 300 and says it is really good. Maybe not a date movie, but still good.

Freddy watched Horror Business, a documentary that profiles the makers of indie horror films. They have
to sacrifice for their craft. The documentarian visited the sets of several very small, grade-z films but also managed to visit the set of Zombie Honeymoon, a movie Freddy really liked.

Freddy also recommends American Movie which is a great documentary following a guy in Wisconsin trying to make a movie called Coven.

Freddy also waxes poetic about going to the Drive-In.

A lively discussion of Friday the 13th the Series erupts.

An enthusiastic discussion about 80s cartoons ensues including Pac-Man, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Kissyfur, and Rubik, The Amazing Cube. And then things quickly degenerate.

Kelley and Amy talk books. Mostly, Kelley rants about bad vampire books like stuff written Laurel K. Hamilton and Mercedes Lackey. He’s on a roll.

Andy’s Porner

The Hole the horror/porn take on The Ring. If you watch the cursed video, you get a phone call that says In seven days you’ll be gay. Sexy times ensue.

Callers/Emails to the show

Amy emails to share that she and her friend scrapbook on Saturdays while listening to NOTLP.

Phleghm calls to complain about the length of recent podcasts, which he compares to the length of the mini-series Roots.

Mindy writes to ask if anyone from the crew saw Hannibal Rising? No one saw it in theaters. They’ll consider seeing it on DVD.

Shaggy called to share his agreement on Zodiac, clarify some stuff about Carnage, and offer praise.

Desmond writes about his “hometown” killer, Robert Pickton, a guy on trial for murdering lots and lots of people. He also complains about an old lady and her problem pet.

Brother D calls to blame his illness on NOTLP and apologizes for not liking Buffy. He appreciated the review of Zodiac.

Zodiac Killer calls to breathe, giggle, and threaten someone’s porn collection.

Other notes of interest

  • Matt hates kids.
  • Fred hates old women who fish for compliments.
  • Amy puked in her car after a night of drinking. Crave Zone One will never be the same.
  • Matt says binge drinking is dangerous.
  • Freddy explains Skyline chili to non-residents.

Show goes out on “Peace of Mind” by Boston.
